They are knitted in the round on doublepointed needles (DPN) from the toe up and are easily tried on while they are being knitted to help in the sizing process. If you have never tried a Turkish Cast-On, now is the opportunity. It really is not that difficult once it is learned. Instructions are given for the Turkish Cast-On, but online videos can help as well. The heel flap used is a gusset heel using a stockinette stitch.
