The Goose Eye pattern is a classic double knitting design (double knitting in the old vernacular which means using 2 yarns, not double sided). The mittens are styled in the Norwegian tradition, beginning the thumb shaping as soon as the cuff is complete. In the Norwegian style, the back of the mittens are patterned differently than the front, and the front of the thumb is reminiscent of the front of the mitten. They are executed in a worsted weight yarn knit at a very tight gauge, so are surprisingly warm making them perfect for winter activities.
