Molas made with delicate reverse appliqué were traditionally used for the bodice sections of blouses made by the Kuna women of Panama. This project mimics the Mola technique in a couple of ways: you stitch through layers of fabric and cut to expose a different color below, and you use bright colors to create a bold, geometric design.
