Miss Mary’s Shoulder Shawl begins at center back and is worked down and outward. The fabric increases by eight stitches every other row, accentuating the crescent shape. The “wings” and center panel of the shawl are knit in the Wave Crest pattern. Wave Crest is an enjoyable and easy pattern to knit; there is only one actual lace pattern row (repeated four times) followed by four relaxing garter rows. This shawl is lovely in tonal or hand-painted yarn; the pattern is visually strong enough for solids. I named this shawl for my dear friend Mary D.
