Lady of the Canyon Shawl

“Trina takes her paints and threads and weaves a pattern all her own,” Joni Mitchell sings in her ‘Ladies of the Canyon’. In this, the second shawl in the Celtic Shawl Series, those words describe perfectly a shawl which combines luscious threads with unique Aran Lace stitch patterns.
Imagine this all-season shawl at a spring wedding, on a summer evening beach stroll, wrapped around you on an autumn walk through the woodlands or used as an over-sized scarf on the coldest of winter days. Luxury will envelope you.
The shawl begins at the centre-back and is knit flat, circularly, from the centre out; two sides of the central square are then extended; edgings are knit as the shawl is worked. There is no seaming or picking up stitches. Stitch Patterns are both charted and written out. The pattern includes detailed construction notes and diagrams; written instructions are included for Emily Ocker’s Cast On, provisional cast on, and 3-Needle Bind Off.
