There is enough openwork to make the sweater lacy and lightweight and enough stockinette stitch to maintain stability. Flutter sleeves flow and drape gracefully around the arms, and there is an easy fit around the midsection. The sweater is knit from the top down in one piece. Stitches are set aside for the sleeves and knitting continues through the body. Sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round.
