I designed this stranded colorwork pattern in honor of German-born, American artist Josef Albers (1888-1976). Albers is probably most well-known for his series of oil paintings on Masonite entitled Homage to the Square. Because this is knitted with three strands of wool per round, it works up into an extra cushy, warm fabric. The pattern features short repeats, so the chart is easy to follow. And, because it's knit in the round, it employs only the knit stitch. No purls. Nothing fancy-schmancy. The beauty is created simply, and nearly exclusively, through use of color. It's so much fun to knit and watch the squares appear as you go!
