Frost Flower Lace Stole

This romantic mohair and silk stole will provide welcome lightweight warmth over your barest dresses. The main body of the garment is knitted in one of the most graceful of the many Victorian flower and leaf patterns. A narrow row of eyelets defines the long edges. In place of the fringe a Victorian knitter might have used, I have finished the narrow ends with a 10" deep herringbone edging.
Made on #7 needles, the project grows fairly quickly. The one-piece construction method is interesting to work and reduces the number of yarn ends to weave in once the garment is completed.

Skill Level: If you are comfortable following a lace chart and knitting on a border, you can do this project. Stitches used are yo; k2tog; k3tog; sl1, k1, psso; s1, k2tog, psso; and p 2tog. The pretty herringbone edging is true lace, patterned on every row; the pattern is repetitive and easy to learn. I recommend needles with pointed rather than rounded tips for this project.
The Frost Flower stole would make an especially lovely gift for a bride, something she can continue wearing long after her beautiful wedding dress has been packed away.
