Easy Mittens and I-Cord Headband

These mittens have NO GUSSET. They do have extra long cuffs which may be easily folded over. (My mittens were always short, so when I started knitting them, I added length to the cuffs.) I learned to make mittens this way many years ago from a friend?s mom and I have knit many for family and friends, which were always well received. I thought I?d try to recreate them and see how other knitters liked them.
The headband is made with I-Cord knit into the edges, byknitting the row and slipping the last three stitches purl-wise.A provisional cast-on is used to begin the headband with acrochet chain on waste yarn. Stitches are picked up THROUGH THE BACK bumps of the chain. Increase and decrease rows are done twice and the ends are grafted together using garter stitch grafting. The I-Cord stitches are grafted to produce a seamless join at the back ofthe headband.
A portion of the proceeds from pattern sales will be contributed to Charlie (the model for the headband & mittens) to go towards her entry fee for the 3-Day for the Cure, which she walks every year. Thank you in advance for this opportunity to help.
