The legend of the jackalope (also referred to as the antelabbit or stagbunny) may have originated from sightings of desert hares afflicted by papillomavirus that caused them to sprout horny protrusions all over their bodies. The strange eyewitness accounts of these horned hares combined with the sleek athletic prowess of a desert jackrabbit likely gave rise tot his comical American myth. This knit version is a challenging project, but it is well worth the effort. The body and head are worked in one piece, with openings for hind legs incorporated into the sides of the flank. Then, the hind legs are knitted onto these designated openings, and the front legs are attached to the underside. Antlers, ears, and tail are all worked separately and sewn on. Shown in Arctic Pool Heather, Lake Ice Heather, Dove Heather, and Bittersweet Heather Wool of the Andes.

Notions: Fiberfill and 6 12” chenille stems

Needles: Size 5 DPNs OR two 24" circs
