I have always admired the look of large
luxurious rectangular shawls. To be able to
wrap yourself in a lovely light and airy lace
blanket just appeals to me. Especially when
warm summer weather catches me off guard.
There is a certain mental block I have against
bringing a sweater with me in the warm
summer months, but honestly between air
conditioning and the lack of natural warmth
once the sun goes down, I do need something.
Where better to get inspiration than from an
ironic favorite summer experience of mine, the
rain! This piece begins with a provisional cast
on at the back, is worked down to the cuff,
bound off, then started again from the
provisional cast on. Making for a seamless ode
to the lovely relief of summer showers. By
holding the yarn doubled, not only is there is a
bit of extra warmth, but (more importantly) the
chance to play with colors! Mix two shades of
Aloft to create a custom heathered hue, or
mix and match yarn lines for even more options!
