A polyrhythm occurs when two or more different rhythms are played simultaneously. The Polyrhythms hat abides by this definition. Two colors are used on each round to form the
pattern. Throughout the entire hat we have four different colors, or rhythms, working together to create cohesive design.
The colorwork designs knit into Polyrhythms all carry musical significance. The pattern begins with miniature DJ headphones and then moves on to music notes, single lines representing a music staff, sharps, and naturals. The larger two sizes finish with another repeat of headphones. Simple patterning is worked as a spacer between each motif.
Construction of Polyrhythms is that of a classic semi-slouch hat. The bottom begins with a 2x2 rib before expanding to stockinette stitch. The crown decreases are worked by evenly spacing k2togs around the circumference.
