- Need Needles?
Melodic is to have, or produce a melody. A melody is a sequence of musical notes. We typically use the term “melody” or “melodic” when referring to not just a simple sequence of notes, but rather a sequence that is particularly pleasing to our ears.
The Melody hat begins at the bottom with a simple band of garter stitch. You may find this edging flips up toward the right side as you knit. Do not despair! When you block you hat after knitting this problem should be fixed.
After the garter stitch, we move on to the main portion of the hat. A houndstooth check pattern is worked using stranded knitting technique. This simple 4-stitch 4-row pattern continues until desired length is achieved. Crown decreases are worked from four points to form a box-like shape to the top.
