Lunaria started as a pair of fingerless gloves but the pattern was too pretty to just leave it at that. A hooded scarf was just the thing. The pockets came as an afterthought– a way to knit the color work in the round but not to knit the whole scarf that way. One ball of each color besides Mulberry will be plenty to complete the gloves and scarf pockets.
The pair of projects is named after the flower the Annual Honesty , or Lunaria annua, which has four petals ranging from white to deep purple when in bloom. The seeds are papery, translu-cent sliver discs in the winter, giving it its other common name in America, “Silver Dollars.”
