The Hue Shift Afghan blends eleven colors of Brava Sport harmoniously in this unique and crafty mitered afghan. Knit in four larger pieces and then seamed together, each of the four sections begins at the corner and mitered squares are picked up and knit directly onto the existing work. By combining this clever construction with simple garter stitch knitting, you are able to create a modern and visually stunning motif with minimal effort! Although each mitered square is worked in the same way, they each begin slightly differently depending on where in the pattern they are located. The first square cast on becomes one of the four corners of the afghan where four more squares are picked up and knit one after another. Each following row of squares is picked up and knit onto the previous row until each section is complete. Made with simple garter stitch mitered squares and finished off with a darker border, the Hue Shift Afghan is a deceptively simple pattern that explores color in a new and creative way!

Notions: yarn needle, and locking ring stitch markers.

This was an excellent pattern! It took forever but the mitered squares are easy to learn and very fun. However, there was NOT ENOUGH YARN IN THE KIT! I needed just a little extra of colors A, B, C, D, E, and F.

I made the rainbow version as a baby gift. I love it so much I'm making a second one for my family. I knit tight and I ended up with extra yarn left, probably 1/4 ball of each except for the colour you use to sew it all together. It came out about 5' x 5' and is just lovely.

I made the rainbow version for a wedding shower gift. I loved it so much, I wanted to keep it for myself. It was striking! Got lots of compliments on it...really turned out beautiful. I agree with Sarah, I had to get more yarn...needed just about a quarter of a ball more of most of the colors. Loved working with the Brava Sport Yarn. Want to make another one in the near future.

I love the look of this pattern and my yarn arrived today! I had a question for someone who has done it though- is there a typo in the partner when it is telling you how to do square one. It has row 5 repeating row 3 but in the instructions for row 5 it says to use the first colour indicated but in the instructions for row 3 it says to use the second colour indicated. So I'm just confused...

I ordered the kit KnitPicks offered and had to order 10 additional skeins to finish the last quarter-block of the pattern. Because I had picked the project up and set it aside a few times, it had been a while and the dye lots on the skeins weren't the same.

I love the pattern and because I'm a set it down and forget about it type of knitter its taken me almost a year to finish. I do have one issue, order 2 balls of each yarn... its possible that on the last block that you might run out of certain yarns. I love it and its a great blanket and an easy to understand patern.

I have knit both the rainbow and jewel versions of this pattern and I will begin the baby version soon. I love the feel of this yarn and the pattern is very easy follow. I would call this a mindless pattern since you can easily get into a rhythm and knit while holding a conversation or watching a movie. The resulting blankets are soft warm and beautiful
