Named after the largest of 30 villages in northwestern Iran, Heriz is a style of rug from this area that dates back to the early nineteenth century. These rugs tend to be larger with rectilinear medallion elements. Often, field of the rug is in red and the medallion in blue. The design of the socks pays tribute to Heriz by breaking down key design elements to their most basic form – resulting in large overlapping, diamond-shaped medallions. The soft, almost brick-red colorway reflects the red that is so often seen in Heriz rugs.
