The red fox is one of only 40 or so land mammal species found on Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and is a common sight in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The name for this design evolved from the clever lace pattern that begins this shawl ~ it reminds one of those adorable little fox faces! The three complementary cable and lace patterns that form this shawl elegantly morph from face to ‘body’ and ‘tail’.
FoxxyLady is a rectangular shawl or scarf knit in two sections from the ends toward the middle; the remaining live stitches are either grafted (Kitchener Stitch) or joined using a 3-Needle Bind Off. Written directions for grafting are included, as is a video link; a picture tutorial is included for the 3-Needle Bind Off. The points at the short ends are created by the pattern stitch and are defined during blocking.
