This started out as an attempt to get a lace sock that was narrow enough for my feet. Most of the lace socks I found were too loose. So, I looked through my copy of Stanfield and Griffiths' Encyclopedia of Knitting and picked out this feather lace stitch pattern. The sock is worked from the toe up. It has a rounded toe and a slip-stitch variation on Squeaky's Widdershins heel. The feather shafts are worked through use of central double decreases. There is no cuff – or rather a minimal one – since the pattern does not curl. If a cuff is desired, continue the ribbing established in round 1 of the finishing section to desired length.
