The diamond-stripes in the Diamond Stripe Lace Shawl look suspiciously like the Atomic Force Microscope cantilever that played center stage in my recently completed Master's thesis. This is the same mechanical cantilever that brought in equal parts joy and defeat and consumed every waking moment until I was finished. Thankfully the Diamond Stripe Lace Shawl shawl knits up much faster than earning a masters degree in physics and with much less public speaking and Atomic Force Microscope cantilevering.
This shawl is constructed of a main body with a knit-on lace edging. Short rows are used to shape the edging. Written instructions are provided for all charts, so you may work from the charts or the written instructions.
