...just a thought: The 4 stitches which are held over are the very top of the slipper and will be incorporated in the ribbed cuff after the foot and heel are finished. However, the bind-off at the back of the heel finishes at the bottom of the foot and the yarn must be cut and the ends woven in (the pattern instructions do not mention this). The stitches you pick up and knit for the ribbed cuff begin at the middle back and are worked around the top of the slipper (incorporating those mysterious 4 stitches). These were fun to do!

I just downloaded this pattern and bought yarn for it this weekend to make for Christmas gifts. I do not understand this 4 pattern - what am I suppose to do with the 4 stitches. Can someone help me.

I read through the pattern but haven't made it yet. It looks like the four stitches on the holder are center top of the foot (instep) and are added to the ribbed border between the 15 pick up stitches on either side for a total of 34 stitches.

I have a pair of slip on Crocs that have a lining that always comes out when I'm ready to take off my shoes...these would be a great alternative and I'm anxious to make these to solve that problem, but I can't see my way clear to buy the yarn until I see some positive comments about the pattern/corrections.

I wish that corrections would be made for this pattern, there are obviously a few. I cannot understand putting 4 stitches on a holder and then not telling us what to do with them. Also, when we continue to the heel there is not enough stitches on the needle for what the instructions say (still at 14 stitches). Clarification please!

I am also having trouble. Put the 4 stitches on the stitch holder... Work flat, but Pattern does not clearly say what to do with those 4 stitches. Even had a very experienced knitter help me and she was stumped as well?

I am having trouble with this pattern. Could someone help me? Instep it says to put 4 stitches on holder, but it does not say what to do with these stitches further on, I am confused.
