The mating behavior of the deep-sea angler fish is probably one of the most bizarre in the entire animal kingdom. Because locating a mate is a difficult affair in the sparsely populated deep ocean, a male who meets a female can’t afford to let her get away. Being only one-tenth of her size, he attaches himself to her with his sharp teeth. Over time, his circulation fuses with hers, and he becomes a part of her, providing a lifetime supply of sperm for the pair’s reproductive needs. Depending on your tastes, you may knit this design with or without the parasitic male angler. Either way, this is a fun, quirky knit! Shown in Fern, Avocado, Evergreen, and Daffodil Wool of the Andes.

Notions: Fiberfill and 8 12” chenille stems
