Options Rainbow Wood Cable Knitting Needles

$4.49

The smooth and lustrous surface of our Rainbow wood needles allows your stitches to move freely for hours of comfortable knitting. Made from laminated birch wood in waves of color, the sharp, gradually tapered points slip easily into stitches so even complicated cables and decreases are easy to maneuver. The Rainbow wood warms quickly in your hands, and the burnished surface provides just the right amount of grip to manage slippery yarns. The grooves in each needle help keep the stitches from slipping off the needle while they are being held either in front or in back of your work. Set of three provides an ideal size for any project.

Set includes:
US size 3 (3 1/8" long)
US size 6 (3 3/8" long)
US size 9 (4" long)
Small, Medium, Large

“These are beautiful, smooth, lightweight, ridged to hold the stitches and they feel soooo nice in my hands. Did I mention they are really pretty?” Knitting.craftgossip.com, Sept 25, 2008.

“Laminated birch needles are beautiful, light and strong, with a sharper point and more durability…These needles also have sharper points than most wooden needles, making them a good choice for lace knitting and other work that requires precision.” www.About.com, March 2009

“I don’t think I could have learned to cable without the Harmony cable needle. The slightly grippy Harmony wood and the tiny ridges carved in the cable needle keep my stitches snug, and the cable needle is short enough that it stays out of my way while I knit.” –Angela M., Knit Picks Marketing Project

"I just received my new Harmony Wood Needle tips and cables. I had read on several sites how nice these needles were.  They didn't exaggerate at all. I have used aluminum, plastic and bamboo needles.  Until today,  I always preferred the bamboo needles.  Today, I am a convert to Harmony Wood needles.  The wood feels fabulous to hold.  The yarn moves along easily.  And they are so lovely and colorful.  I can't wait to replace my others with more Harmony. I am already 1/2 way finished with a new hat since opening the package. Thank you for a great product" Cheryl L., Knit Picks Customer

"When I discovered the Knit Picks Options, I thought I couldn't buy the entire set, so I tried a few points and cables, and fell in love. I soon discovered that I COULD buy the entire set. About that time the Harmony wood needle tips came out, and I purchased a few in larger sizes for use with my bulkier weight yarns. Love them too. When I saw the straights come out, I thought, "Oh, no, I can't resist!" Before I could purchase a set, one of my good friends at work bought me a pair as a retirement gift. And I had never even told her that I wanted them. Though I did turn her on to Knit Picks, as she is a beginning knitter, and needed to be pointed in the right direction. She is the second of my work friends that I told about Knit Picks, and both are sold.

The quality is too high and the prices much too reasonable to go anywhere else." Susan, Knit Picks Customer

I've had these for a while, but only just now had a project with cables to use them on. They're beautiful and feel good in the hands, but those grooves... The grooves are a good idea, but in practice make these very difficult to use. They're too deep, so that yarn gets caught in them, meaning that you have to really work to get the yarn off, and good luck getting the stitches to the other side of the needle. My poor Shine worsted yarn has gone all fuzzy in the section of diagonal basketstitch I'm doing because of these needles, and I can't use them with fingering weight at all. Probably smaller grooves would have worked better, to provide resistance without completely catching the yarn in the grooves. 2 stars because it's still slightly easier to use them than not, but I'm seriously trying to figure out how to do these 2/1/2 LPC and RPC without them.

These are simply beautiful cable needles. They look good, they feel good, they are a perfect size, and they would be perfect if some idiot hadn't decided groves would be helpful! The yarn gets caught in the grove and you have to wrestle to get it out. Make them again without grooves and I'll buy them.

These are the best cable needles I have ever used! I only use cable needles for crosses using more than 4 sts, and they way the grooves hold onto the sts is perfect. And then when you want to slip them out to work the sts you just twist them a few times in your fingertips and the sts slide out of the grooves. And I LOVE that they match my Harmony circs! I like working with these much more than the std metal ones with the curve or the bump in them that slide right out of the sts! I wish there were larger sizes also!

I was so excited to get these because I enjoy cabeling and love my harmony interchange set but was VERY disappointed. There are grooves in the middle of the cable needles and my yarn catches in them making moving the yarn extremely difficult. I will continue my search for a good option.

I am a matchy-matchy person so I just had to have these to match my harmony wood needles. :) And they are excellent. It's hard to see in the picture, but there are a few little groves in the needles to keep your stitches from slipping off. That also means a touch more work to get the stitches to the other end to work them, but I think it's well worth not risking a dropped stitch!

I have these from a different company and have used them for years, but I had lost a couple of them. I love all my Harmony Wood needles so I ordered them. The holes are too deep so they don't slide out of my knitting , but I also can!t get it to move when I need to use it.

Although I really like the Harmony needles, I was disappointed in the cable needle set. The "grooves" catch the yarn (worsted or DK) and I had to literally work the stitch off the cable needle. I found it impossible to slide the stitches back. Used them once and not since.
