Options Caspian Wood Cable Knitting Needles

The smooth and lustrous surface of our Caspian wood needles allows your stitches to move freely for hours of comfortable knitting. Made from laminated birch wood in waves of color, the sharp, gradually tapered points slip easily into stitches so even complicated cables and decreases are easy to maneuver. The Caspian wood warms quickly in your hands, and the burnished surface provides just the right amount of grip to manage slippery yarns. The grooves in each needle help keep the stitches from slipping off the needle while they are being held either in front or in back of your work. Set of three provides an ideal size for any project.
Set includes:
US size 3 (3 1/8" long)
US size 6 (3 3/8" long)

I do a lot of cable work so I am always looking for good cable needles so I recently tried the ones with the grooves in them. How annoying. Yes the stitches stayed on the need alright but getting them off quickly was just not possible. I had to get the stitiches right back on the point in order to knit across without stopping. Not a good deal for me I am sorry to say. Went back to my short straight metal ones.7FC534

I have to agree with another lady here; I thought these cable needles would be perfect - three sizes and just the right length - however, the grooves really slow things down. They snag on the yarn and are frustratingly slow to push through. Perhaps softer indents or no indents at all would be a better option. Being made of wood, they are light and not really prone to falling out of your work like the metal ones do. I would really like to see just plain wooden cable needles on the site and would be the first to step up and buy a set.

I really wanted to like these needles and purchased two sets to be sure I'd have them readily available for any project. However, the ridges snag the yarn, and I'm just frustrated using them.

I am not a fan of these. The yarn keeps snagging on the grooves and it really slows me down. They may be great for slow knitters or somebody who has problems using smooth cable needles. But if you are used to knitting with some speed, these will definitely slow you down.

I love all the Rainbow and Caspian wood needles I've purchased but I find that the Caspian Wood Cable Needles grip the yarn a bit too tightly for my liking. I've been using my Caspian DPN's as my cable needle.

I really love these cable needles. The stitches stay where they are supposed to because of the grooves in them. I loved my rosewood kinked cable needles but these were the replacements after I gave the others away as a gift. I also just love the Caspian sets in general because of the coloring.

I LOVE these needles. I love wooden needles, and the tips on these are the best of any wooden needle I have used. The grooves that hold the yarn in place while moving the needle back and forth for cabling really helps prevent the yarn from sliding off the needle. I really like that the needle set offers three sizes for various projects.

Love these cable needles! While learning to cable, I had difficulty with the "standard" kind of cable needles, as they kept slipping out and were awkwardly shaped. The grooves of these wooden ones hold the stitches securely until I can knit them. To get them to move along to the tip of the needle, just twist the needle back and forth.
