During my first winter living in NYC, it was so cold that I realised I needed a whole different type of winter wardrobe than I was used to. Bulky yarn was definitely the way to go, and given how quickly it would knit up into a cozy sweater.

The Necessity Jumper is a two-colored raglan sweater. Knit mostly in stockinette, it features eye-catching cabled panels running down the sides of both sleeves and continuing down the sides of the body. It's knit top-down in the round in one piece, with an attractive open boat neck and gentle waist shaping which gives it a flattering fit.

The cable is an easily memorisable 6-line repeat, given as both a chart and written instructions. The jumper is an excellent introduction to sweater knitting, cable work and chart reading for advanced beginner or intermediate knitters, and a quick knit for more advanced knitters.

Sweater is meant to be worn with 0-4.5" positive ease.
