Begin the holiday season by hanging these colorwork stockings from your mantle! Each kit contains instructions for a traditional Scandinavian inspired snowflake motif stocking as well as a more modern abstract design stocking. There is also an alphabet chart to customize each stocking with the recipient’s name (up to seven letters).
If you have never knit socks before, do not be intimidated by these stockings! These stockings are knit as a straight tube in stranded two color knitting, with a quick interlude to hold the heel stitches. The toe and heel are worked after the stranded knitting is done, and they are decreased like the top of a hat. The stocking is then finished with an applied i-cord edge and a loop so you can hang your stocking up right away. This kit comes in blue and white and also green and gold, so you can choose a stocking that matches your home décor. One kit makes 3-4 stocking and includes both patterns shown. Knit these stockings with US 5 (3.75 mm) DPNs or long circular needle if you prefer Magic loop. You also need US 4 (3.5 mm) DPNs for the I cord trim. The finished stocking is 11" in circumference and 20" from the cuff to the toe.
