Knit Picks began in 2002 with the purpose of connecting knitters with a wide selection of yarn, knitting books, needles and accessories at great prices. In 2004, owners Bob and Kelley Petkun decided to explore the possibility of working directly with yarn mills to bring high quality, natural fiber yarns to knitters without all the extra levels of distribution that increase costs. This is why Knit Picks’ yarns are so incredibly affordable.

In 2006, Bob and Kelley applied the same concept to knitting needles. First, they worked closely with a large group of knitters to determine all the features the ideal knitting needle would have. Then, they developed a partnership with a manufacturer who was excited to invest the time and engineering expertise necessary to make the dream knitting needle come true.

The Knit Picks team continues to look for ways to bring innovative knitting products to knitters for the best possible value.
