"In my knitting world, there are two types of reference books.  Those that teach specific techniques like a how to Fair Isle book, and those that teach theory.  Color Sense falls under the theory category.  This is the kind of book that I will thumb through over and over and absorb the information.  There is classic information on color theory at the beginning of the book, so you can start with a solid understanding of the color wheel, complimentary colors, and contrasting colors.  But after you begin to understand color theory, the rest of Color Sense is laid out so you can play with color and truly come up with fun and innovative combinations.

Each chapter of this book works its way around the color wheel.  There are chapters on monochromatic color combinations all the way through four color combinations.  Susan also includes pages and pages of color combination examples.  If you ever need inspiration, flip through Color Sense until a particular combination jumps out at you, and that's where you start.  The back of the book contains perforated color chips and a color wheel.  You can hold the color chips together in the color combination template until you find a color combination that is pleasing to you.  Or you can put the color chip in an open window in the color wheel to get a sense of where to find a complimentary or contrasting color to pair in a project."  Kelley Petkun, Owner
