Skir Dhu is the first shawl in the Along the Cabot Trail series.
‘Your heart will never leave’ is promised by Cape Bretoners and, as one travels the world renowned Cabot Trail, the wonders of the island and its treasures ~ like the small community of Skir Dhu ( Gaelic for ‘black rock’) ~ it’s easy to see why. The unparalleled beauty of the land, the power and vastness of the ocean, the music, the history, the culture - all cast their spell. This shawl, the first in the Along the Cabot Trail series, will be the perfect memory!
Skir Dhu is a modified triangular shawl (often referred to as ‘heart-shaped’) knit top down, beginning with a provisionally cast on neck tab. The cable and lace pattern is mirrored on either side of the spine stitch and is finished with a lovely undulating double border.
Lace Gauge is 18 sts and 26 rows over 4” / 10cm in main pattern stitch, blocked. Pattern stitches are both charted and written out. A crochet hook is required for the provisional cast on. This pattern includes a 5-page picture tutorial for the Provisional Crochet Cast On.
