This is a pattern for a four sectioned shawl. I designed this for my lovely friend, Marion, who is an abstract painter and named the shawl after one of her pieces that contains the words, “when I feel fear, I flap my wings and glide”. Through painted marks, collage, and words she expresses wind, sky, and birds. I wanted to include these elements in her shawl to share with you. It is a shawl with relatively simple stitches and repeats, which can be continued to adjust the size of the shawl. Marion enjoys smaller shawlettes and so that is the one pictured here.
This is a four paneled, semi-circular shawlette with a simple 3 stitch cabled border on either side of each panel, and knit with sock yarn. You can make this shawlette larger by knitting additional repeat rows and/or increasing the number of panels.
