Once upon a time,I saw a gorgeous cowl. Ihad the most outrageousimpulse to knit it, so Iwent to the yarn store, picked up some gorgeousalpaca, and proceeded toknit. However, as Iworked on the cowl, Idiscovered that the stitchpattern I had gotten soexcited about in the cowlwasn?t the stitch pattern Ithought it was. In fact, itwas quite a pain in thebehind to execute, andwasn?t producing theresults I wanted. It didn?thelp that I was not afan of the edging of the cowl either. So it was frogged. I fiddled for a few hours with variouscrochet stitches that might produce the effect I was looking for, but the fabric was alwaystoo stiff, even when I went up a few hook sizes. So I returned to knitting, and a stitch Iknew well, charted out a graduated seed-stitch edging, and proceeded to knit this cowl. Itturned out to be what I was looking for all along.
