Crochet Contest

Conest is over - thanks everyone!  We'll announce the winners soon!

One of the best things about this job is the fact that I finally was introduced to crochet, much to my mom's delight.  She had tried to teach me so many times but it never stuck until about a year ago - and now I have so many great crochet patterns to choose from!

Two of my all time favorite crochet designers are Ann Marie Ivins and Linda Permann - both of of whom I've discussed here on the blog.  Because I think they are both so wonderful, I figured I'd hold a blog contest to celebrate them!

Ann Marie designs such cute unique creates that I absolutely adore.  She had sent in her samples of Qinyao the Happy Dragon and Roxy the Ringtailed Cat and while I normally just return the samples to the desingers when we are done, Ann Marie asked if I wanted them!  Well I do, but I thought our blog friends would enjoy one of these little guys just as much!

So there's Qinyao:

and Roxy

ready to come home to you!

In addition, Potter Craft sent us a couple of extra copies of Little Crochet, Linda Perman's awesome new book.

There are so many adorable projects in here - I can't wait to make so many of them.  I mean check out this adorable mobile!

Since I have a copy already (that you couldn't pry from my cold dead hands!) I'm going to give away one of Ann Marie's creatures with a copy of Linda's book to 2 lucky winners, just to celebrate my love (and hopefully yours as well) for crochet!

Qinyao is my favorite. I usually knit but when I crochet it is usually amigurumi critters. I also love crochet lace sweaters.
  2. Sarah Calhoun Says:
I want Qinyao because he is an amazing piece of work. I am just learning to crochet and not brave enough to attempt amigurumi myself. Qinyao woud definetly be an inspiration!
  3. Knit momma Says:
They are both so cute!!!! I'd love the book, and either one of the critters. My favorite crochet pattern is a free mouse pattern from (I think) kristie's kids. It's adorable, and quick.
  4. Anita Says:
I love any of the wonderful patterns and ideas that come from Attic 24
  5. Sandi Cramer Says:
I only learned to crochet 5 months ago, after years of trying on and off. I haven't found a favorite pattern to crochet. But my Great Aunt Edith made me a poncho in the 70's that I wore it all the time!! I loved it.
  6. Linda Says:
I would LOVE to give Qinyao a home!! I downloaded the pattern the day it was posted but have not been successful in completing him. He is my all time favorite pattern!
  7. Lyn Says:
I would LOVE to win Roxy. Ring tailed cats are rare, but are still around here in San Antonio. I've only seen one once several years ago, but it was as cute as Roxy.
  8. Hind Says:
My favorite crochet pattern is a potholder I made years ago, I don' t remember the name of the pattern but it's like a big granny with the corners folded in and the sides seamed together to make it double layer. It's very pretty and very useful. I would love a copy of the book.
  9. Kim H Says:
My most favorite pattern of all time is a little sweater and hat set. The hat and sweater were blue with a block pattern all over. The hat and the sweater had a little crocheted snail sewn on. I would love to win Qinyao.
  10. Jodi Says:
Of the crochet projects I've done, I think my favorite is a yellow baby dress and bonnet I made several years ago. It's just bright and cheery. (Don't know the pattern.) For this contest, I would LOVE the book - I've been wanting to buy it because of the owl pillow I want to make for a friend who is adopting and having an owl themed nursery. Thanks!!
  11. Patricia Says:
I have been making bead & crochet jewelry recently, so presently this is my favorite. (Although I really like the booties on the cover of the book. If I am chosen I would love the book. Thanks

I would love the book, and the dragon is awesome! I haven't learned to crochet (I knit), but I would really like to do so. I have my eye on some adorable crochet Christmas ornaments!
  13. Nicole Says:
I think my favorite crochet project so far is the shawl that i'm working on that doubles as a shrug (the sleeves button together). I would love a copy of Linda's book as I'm in baby crochet mode having a 2-month old myself, two friends expecting twins and two other friends expecting as well so I have lots of gifts to make! :) That and I'm also very much in love with her designs!
  14. Alina Says:
I love lot's of crochet patterns, I bought books and patterns online. Some of them were done, many are waiting to be done. I love the granny strip blanket I am currently making for my son. I would love the book :) Thanks you!

  16. Marie/Underground Crafter Says:
My favorite crochet pattern of all time is probably Monet Pineapple, by Janie Herrin (RIP). This was my very first pineapple and I made several afghans from this pattern as gifts. I would love the Roxy, please, if I win. Thanks for offering the giveaway!
  17. Tammy Long Says:
I don't have any "one" single favorite pattern. However I do have a favorite designer in the lace and thread arena. I love Patricia Kristofferson's style of design. I have made several of her doily and coaster patterns in No. 10 crochet thread and they are beautiful designs as well as easy to follow. I'm a new first time grandmother and would love the book. I'm totally loving Nina's "How to Knit a Sweater" tutorials. They will help me lots with my new passion of learning to expand my fiber talents into the knit family. Shalom
  18. Annie Says:
I haven't crocheted yet, but I am learning and I love the little creatures! I think I'd like to have the book best, though, because I'm a sucker for anything baby and toddler and the little booties on the front are adorable!
  19. Beth Rudo Says:
My favorite crochet pattern is the Tunisian Mitered Square afghan. I'm making one right now. And I would love to have Qinyao.

sorry so busy remembering I forgot to say I would like the book.
  21. Sheila Sanchez Says:
My favorite has to be a sweater with sailboats that I made for my son when he was two. It was so cute and buttoned at the shoulder. At age two he had a strong opinion and said he was not going to wear it. Well after I made him wear it and folks complemented him on it and it became his favorite. He would proudly say "my mom made it". Now that's the best thing ever !
  22. Zamiel Says:
Oops I forgot a word, the Book would be a great kick in the pants to try crochet again!
  23. Zamiel Says:
Would be a great kick in the pants to try crochet again!
  24. Diana Troldahl Says:
    I would love Qinyao... My favorite crochet pattern of all time isn't really a pattern. It is picking up the hook and a bag full of scrap yarn and beginning with a general idea of what I want to make (a triangle or rectangular shawl, some bowls to be felted, a free-form doll perhaps, or if it's a BIG bag, maybe a lapghan or afghan. It is so relaxing to create without following any rules :-}
  25. Joanna Says:
The crochet pattern I use the most is a simple one for a prayer shawl. 3 single crochet, 3 double crochet across a number of stiches in a multiple of 6 (60, 66). I would love the book!

What is my favorite pattern...that is a really hard question. I would have to say that I love to make blankets with different motifs! Book, please! that mobile would be perfect for my baby girl's room. And my fav crochet pattern ever is Mary Jane Sliders for a quick pair of baby shoes in an evening. Google it, I'm too lazy to look up the link right now. Or instead of google, look it up on ravelry...

  49. Catherine Marcoux Says:
I would prefer the book, so that I could crochet a few things for a friend, who is pregnant. As for my favorite crochet pattern... I don't know. I'm mostly crocheted doilies from crochet yarn that my grand-mother gave me (got too many, and only a skein or less of each... =/). Maybe that irish flower doily I crocheted this summer. Thanks! Have a nice day! :)
  50. Janice Says:
I would love to win the book. I have mostly used crochet to finish knitting projects, but it would be challenging to actually make something. I have crocheted a tiny beaded purse that was fun to make.
