“Thank you Knit Picks! I’m also the proud owner of a KP yarn ball winder. Seriously, at that price, why wouldn’t I get one?? The mats are also well priced and they interlock nicely. I’ve got some of them in use now with the Not Quite Straight Scarf.” www.inkysticks.blogspot.com, March 2009

Agree - needs the grid lines! Do you pin on the smooth side or the textured side?

The great thing about owning the ball winder is that you can wind almost all of your yarn and your friends yarns too, and be done in the time it would take to do one or two skeins by hand. I love being able to stack my yarns neatly in my storage baskets and seeing what I have when I want it.

I wish I bought these long ago. I used to block on towels but getting pins to stick through the towel was a pain, sometimes literally! Pins go into the mats easily, and I like that I can arrange the mats to fit the project. The only downside is that they need a case - I'm currently storing them in the shipping box.

Overall, I love my set. I've had them about three years now. One had some puffing and a change in texture on top (not sure why), but overall these have held up well to moderate use. I agree that a grid would be nice. I have not had color transfer onto finished projects.

I would order these in a minute if they had a 1" grid on them.

Adding a 1"grid would add immeasurably to these for me, especially when blocking to a specific size.

These mats are wonderful. They pin easily, and lock together well. They are sturdy and washable, making them perfect for my crochet work.

I am buying a 2nd set of these blocking mats because I need more area for large shawls and long scarves. I like the versatility of being able to put together these in any shape you need. The only thing I wish KP would add is a grid of lines so you could align the piece straight. A 1"x1" grid would be great, at least that would give a starting point. Other than that, these are great.
