Lace Blocking Wires

Simply slip the wire through the edges of your lace project and place pins along the inside of the wires to hold them in place while the lace dries. If you have scalloped edges you will want to slip the wire through the outer edges of your scallops to emphasize them. Follow the same rules as pin or string blocking by measuring the radius of your finished piece as you adjust the wires. Set comes with 15 (34.5"/880mm long) straight wires (est. 15 gauge), 20 nickel-plated T-pins and blocking instructions. All wires are stainless steel and rust proof. The first time you use your blocking wires, wipe them with a soft cloth to remove manufacturing residue.

“The wires tame like a race car!”  Creative Knitting November 2009

“I recently got the Knit Picks Lace Blocking Wires and this was my first time using it. It took some time to thread the wires through, but after that, it makes it so easy to form straight sides. I am so glad I bought them!”  Oiyi

Podcast episode 123 is all about blocking your knitted projects.

Yes! Not only made sewing sides and sleeves easier, for the first time, I set sleeves into a knitted sweater without ripping out and resewing until they fit right. The flexible wires woven into the crown of the sleeves did the trick! Highly recommented.

Why doesn't Melanie just use the inner roll on wrapping paper?

May I suggest to Melanie that the best way to store these is to obtain either the inner roll from a bolt of fabric (from a fabric store) or perhaps look in the post office or a packing supply store for the sort of cardboard rolls used for postage.

My life has been easier since I got these. There is less cussing while blocking lace for starters. Do follow the included directions and wipe each one thoroughly before using. As to storage, I store mine in the tube they come in. So there's no issue for ME there.

Try putting them into a wrapping paper tube or get a small piece of lightweight pipe, have it cut to size, and put a tape cap on each end. :-)

I have blocking wires that came with a knitting machine many years ago. They are in a tube -- so purchase a mailing tube and put your wires in it.

Used these wires and pins to block several shawls and scarves to be sold at a show. They work very well. Wish they were a tad longer, but otherwise they are great. Keep the tube they are shipped in for storing them (see other review for these).

I was a bit disappointed with these when I received them. The blocking wires seem to work well (I've used them once) and the t-pins are a nice addition, but some sort of storage case for them would have been nice. I wary to leave these just lying around, for fear they may get damaged or injure someone. I contacted Knit Picks for storing suggestions, and, I'm sorry to say, they weren't very helpful.
