I love the patterns. I really enjoy doing cable work so everything in the book is wonderful and challenging. The design are rich, the styles beautiful and with a few variations can be easily adapted for men. I had not worked extensively with charts, but they have proved very easy to work with, especially if working in the round (everything is right to left. One hint for making the charts easier to work with -- get out your highlighter and at the very least mark the odd /even rows/ rounds. Fabulous book, I highly recommend it.

Absolutely love this book. Charts are easy to follow, and the patterns are lovely. A fantastic book to add to any cable knitter's collection.

I was very excited about this book and there are good things in the book; however, the patterns are not one of the good things. I guess I'm an old fashioned knitter who prefers my pattern instructions to be written, not charted. If I had known this book was only charted I wouldn't have gotten it. I have a very difficult time with charts and lose all enjoyment. What's the point if one doesn't enjoy their knitting?

I love that the patterns are charted. It is so much faster and more intuitive than reading all the instructions - you can see the pattern on the page before you start or spot a mistake in your work. I plan to make several of these classics.

Okay, fair warning, this is a bit of a rant. I would have given this a better rating (as I plan on knitting a few of the patterns) except all the patterns are CHARTED! it wasn't mentioned in the description, and I wouldn't have bought this book or the two others I also picked up, if I had known. I now have to learn charts or I've wasted my money and I... sincerely dislike charts. Why they don't also include a written description for the cable panels I will never understand. This happens with a lot of cable knits and it drives me up the wall! I have been a devoted fan of Knit picks for a long time, this is the first of their patterns I have tried and it is more than a little disappointing. In all honesty I expected better. Knit Picks seems to be very adaptive to the various persnickety habits of knitters, and I find it rude that they didn't account or at least advice prospective buyers that there are no written instructions. I am mentioning it on this book as I bought it for the Morning Ramble Cardigan in particular and I cannot substitute the cables for something else as I could on a simpler sweater. It's rather intricate and seems designed to flow together in a certain way. This holds up on all the cable books I have bought from this brand, so it doesn't seem to be a fault of the designers.
