The Great North American Afghan
Knitting sampler squares is not only a great way to try out new techniques and stitch patterns on a smaller scale project, but you can later combine your sampler squares to make an afghan that is uniquely yours! You will be able to explore a broad range of skills and techniques, one square at a time. The Great North American Afghan is an all new collection from Knitter's magazine featuring 24 unique squares by 21 great designers such as Pam Allen, Elise Duvekot, Michelle Wyman, Deborah Newton and more! Each designer was only given one restriction - the size of the square and its border. This allowed each designer to create a design that speaks to their own style and inspiration - while combining together to create a bigger project that is made unique by each knitter's use of color and placement. This booklet includes ideas for color palettes, how to get started, tips for seaming and finishing as well as an illustrated guide on stitches used throughout the patterns. Since these squares are made one at a time, they are portable and interchangeable - allowing you to develop your ideas as you go. Each square is sized at 12x12" and the finished afghan measures 48x60". The Great North American Afghan is a fun way of learning while each completed square makes you one step closer to finishing your own heirloom afghan.
