Norwegian Handknits was inspired by collection of heirloom knitted clothing from the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa. Authors Sue Flanders and Janine Kosel published patterns based on these historic knitted artifacts, so you can make your own Voss sweater or Nisse hat. Each pattern is accompanied with an explanation of the history or any interesting notes related to the garment. These designs feature knitting traditions from Norway, as well as designs that Norwegian pioneers developed while settling in the American Midwest.
