Modern Top-Down Knitting

$18.09 34% off
Retail: $27.50

For decades, knitters have been constructing garments using the wonderfully efficient top-down technique made famous by Barbara G. Walker in her renowned tome Knitting from the Top. But never have the results looked as glamorous and city-chic as they do in Modern Top Down Knitting. In this sophisticated collection, designer Kristina McGowan presents streamlined, feminine dresses, tunics, and skirts; elegant cardigans and pullovers; and stylish go-to accessories such as hats and gloves. Also included are step-by-step photo tutorials that make top-down techniques easy to understand and sizing and style adjustments a cinch to achieve. Detailed instructions are also included for finishing garments with couture-quality trims and linings, so they look just as elegant on the inside as they do on the outside.

The garments in this book are very nice and the stitches themselves are fairly easy but the lack of adequate directions make knitting these top down garments a nightmare. If you have knit top down before you may be able to piece it together but be prepared for frogging and re-knitting or just waiting for someone to clarify the wording to be able to continue a project. When a recipe book is released the publisher doesn't withhold information just because they believe a person may have cooked before so I have to wonder why some patterns leave out information just because they think someone may have knit before.
