"Knitting doesn’t always have to be about big sweaters and complicated lace shawls. Sometimes you want to take things down a bit and knit something small, entertaining, and fun. What I like about knitting small items, is that I can go a bit crazy. I can get away with things that would be overwhelming on a full sweater. I love the Daphne purse. We knit a sample of it for the Knit Picks catalog. It’s the perfect size to take out for an evening and you can still fit a knitting project inside. There is an all over herringbone stitch pattern that is adorned with ribbon embroidery in a lazy daisy pattern. This book has lots of fun embellishment ideas! Ever since I took up weaving years and years ago, I’ve been fascinated with the possibility of a tabard shaped item, which is just a long rectangle that you fold over and it has a neck opening. Louisa used very interesting increases and decreases to have a diagonal cable running across the body of the Alicia Tabard. You can’t weave cables, this tabard is designed to highlight the advantages of knitting. Knitting Little Luxuries is filled with small projects to show off your yarn. The next time you fall in love with a luxurious yarn, get it, you will be able to find a pattern in Knitting Little Luxuries". Kelley Petkun, Owner
