"I have to admit that when I wear something that I knit, I like to be noticed.  Deborah Newton has embraced that idea with her book, Knits to be Noticed.  These are things that aren't flashy or showing, but they are interesting, well designed, and will get people's attention.  Deborah has created beautiful sweaters with unusual combinations of stitch patterns and techniques.  There is a beautiful cabled turtleneck sweater pattern.  But the background of the sweater is a basket weave stitch, instead of traditional stockinette or moss stitch.  And then there is a lace pattern inside of the curves of the cable.  You usually don't see sweaters that combine techniques and textures like this, but it creates an interesting twist on a classic Aran sweater, that will stand out in your mind.  The photography in this book is really good.  You see the sweaters from the front, from the back, and there are close up pictures of the details."  Kelley Petkun, Owner
