The First Book of Modern Lace Knitting perhaps isn’t modern anymore, but this book contains complex and imaginative lace motifs that are still shockingly beautiful today. This is the sort of book that fills you with inspiration as you flip through the pages. Lace doilies would be out of place in my home, but I would love to adapt the same lace pattern into a lace shawl, or knit it with thicker yarn into a lace blanket!
