Colored blocks are “stacked” into this cheerful cowl - thanks to the clever placement of the blocks, it always looks different, depending on which side is worn to the front and the angle of view. The cowl can be worked in a set color scheme or using as many different colors as there are blocks.

The cowl is knit from the bottom up, completely in garter stitch. The blocks are worked using the intarsia in the round technique. The term “in the round” is actually misleading, because in this method the work is done in rows: one right-side knit row across all stitches is followed by a wrong-side knit row across all stitches. Because all stitches are always worked, the term "rounds" is used nevertheless. The rounds are connected by a certain step at the “joint” (beginning and end of the round) to make the piece seamless. The method in this pattern uses a yarn over stitch at the beginning of the round, which at the end of the round is worked together with the last stitch.

The cowl can be worked in any size; the number of stitches cast on determines the circumference.

The color used in the sample is no longer available. We have made substitution suggestions in the Kit Builder below.
