I was super excited to order this--but didn't have a need for it. I finally decided to get one in size F, even though I already had that size. I am really disappointed. REALLY disappointed. I thought for how beautiful it was, and how much I feel Knit Picks yard is so much better than any other yarn (I no longer buy anywhere else!), it would be just so much better than an average hook. It is prettier than the average metal hook. However, it isn't labeled with the size--not sure if they missed labeling it, or just don't. Yes, I can write it one and cover with something so it doesn't wear off--but I paid extra for a nice hook and shouldn't have to alter it. It feels so flimsy--I have bamboo hooks in both regular and Tunisian, and they feel much higher quality. This is just smoother. I would never encourage anybody to spend their money on these, and I would never buy them for gifts for anybody.

If you are looking for a hook with an "inline" end similar to Bates then look no further! It's a shame Knit Picks video review of this item isn't better, I had to find an online video to get a better idea of what they look like. Hello Knit Picks, I don't care what the girl looks like reviewing the product or the wall behind her...I want to SEE the item I looking to buy...like up close...and it would be good to have a better description than "awesome". The hook is 6" long. The finish is smooth and a good balance between being too slick and not slick enough. I would categorize this as an inline hook with a rounded head and a nice deep groove/notch. The body is round with a "flattened area" starting 1 1/2" from the tip and extending for 2 1/2". This flat area is inline with the hook and is the perfect spot for your thumb if using the "knife grip", not sure how"pencil grippers" would like it. I find I have less yarn splitting with this hook and it seems to glide nicely. I do wish it came in either the Majestic or even the Sunstruck as I think sometimes the darker wood with dark yarn is a challenge. It is true that they have failed to put any size markings on it but I used the clear sticker from the package and it seems to be staying on just fine. This is my favorite hook and wish I had a whole set but holding out to see if they release any new colors or if they add size markings to them.

I bought a set of these for my girlfriend and use them myself. I love them and I find working with them super smooth and quicker than the basic steel hooks I started out on. I don't use any sizes under a 5.0 though as I usually have pretty high tension and Ive snapped the hook right off one of the smaller gauges.

I have two of these, beautiful. I disagree with a previous comment about the flat spot...I find it is perfectly placed. But I agree that they could have been marked....metric of course!

While these hooks are gorgeous they fail to have marking on them to tell you what size they are. I'm new at this crocheting business so I never dreamed that they even made hooks unmarked. I also am unable to pick up a hook and know what size it is, so short of leaving them in the package which is cumbersome how do you tell what size they are?

I like them alot, but I too am frustrated with them having no size markings on them. What gives?? I didn't know they didn't have size markings on them otherwise I would not have bought them. This is a HUGE error. I contacted them about it, they said they were making them with markings on them in the future. BUT that doesn't help me now does it? I bought a set of them, what do I do now? stickers don't stay on them (and they catch on things).. and I can the Caspian ones so, they are dark.. and a permanent marker would ruin their look (not to mention the inconsistency of my handwritting making them not uniform.. I have OCD tendencies.. )

I had high hopes for these hooks, but they fell a bit flat.... The edge is nice and sharp and the groove is deep, so I dont seem to have any problem with cutting my yarn or trouble drawing up a loop which is lovely. While some have complained of the head not being pointed enough, I had absolutely no issues with it. Not even when crocheting tight amigurumi stiches. The hook is solid and the laminate coloring is stunning. The finish has just the right amount of grip and i am sure will develop a lovely smooth head and shaft over time. I was not, however, impressed with the comfort, which is critical for me. These hooks have an odd flat section midway down the shaft that seems to serve absolutely no purpose. It is too far back for a thumb grip for pencil hold, and is in the wrong place to serve any grip purpose for an overhand hold either. For the life of me I cannot fathom why it is there other than to make things uncomfortable for me! My other big complaint is that there is no marking on the hook to indicate size. While this may be acceptable in a knitting needle that can be checked against a size gauge, crochet hooks are not so easily identified. I have a large collection of hooks and it really frustrates me to have no size marking. Overall, for the price, i would prefer these to a cheap metal hook like susan bates or boyle, but in terms of comfort and longevity I dont believe they can hold a candle to my wooden laurel hill hooks, which are only just slightly more expensive. Given the choice I would pay the extra for comfort and clear identification of sizes. Hope to see new and improved crochet hook designs here in the future as I am a huge fan of KPs and order almost ALL my yarn from them.

I have the 12 mm (largest) hook. I don't like it for lacey yarn crochet because the stitches don't slide on/off very well. I love it for T-shirt yarn and crocheting rugs. It is incredibly sturdy. It is also beautiful.
