Our classic worsted wool yarn in gorgeous kettle dyed colors. The subtle variations in the color are created by kettle dyeing the yarn. This is a special method of hand dyeing yarn in which the yarn is completely submersed in a single color of dye in a large kettle and then manipulated a little to encourage the dye to saturate more deeply in some areas than others. This effect provides more depth to your finished knits than just a solid. Stockinette will really show off the color gradations, but these same gradations will give an even richer look to textured knits. Wool of the Andes is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. A sturdy yet soft yarn with excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability.
Note: The beauty of kettle dyed yarn is its uniqueness and depth of color. Because of the artisan small-batch dyeing process, there will be slight variations of color from skein to skein. For larger projects we recommend alternating between skeins throughout the project to avoid unwanted striping or pooling.
Also available in solid, heather and twist colors and as natural undyed yarn so you can create your own colorways.
“Knit Picks- great yarn; great prices. I used Wool of the Andes for my Enchanted Forest Fingerless gloves and it is strong, the colors are vibrant, and the cost was low. I used 3 skeins for two gloves, and it cost me $2.19 per skein plus shipping- under $10!” www.zoescheffy.blogspot.com, February 2009
"I used the new Wool of the Andes Kettle Dyed Yarn in a steeked cardigan for myself. The subtle color changes gave an element of depth to my colorwork, and the yarn was trustworthy when it came time to cut my steek! Alternating balls every other row gave me a nice blended effect and added to the rustic look I was going for."

"I've been ordering yarn from Knit Picks for several years now, and I am always very pleased with your products. I am especially happy with the results I have been getting with the new WOTA Kettle Dyed yarn! It is fantastic! I have always loved WOTA, but now I have one more reason to use it! The variations in color give so much depth to my finished projects!" Emilee L., Knit Picks customer
