“Can needles be called sensual? Absolutely, yes. Harmony Wood Knitting Needles look and feel as great as they look… You may love them at first for their striking appearance (oh the colors!) but Harmony Wood Needles are very practical. Laminated birch makes them strong and stable. The stability allows for sharp points, particularly nice for lace knitting…” Knit ‘N Style, June 2008.

“It is interesting that the idea for these beautiful multicolored needles came from gourmet kitchen utensils. The layers of laminated birch give these needles a strength that is missing in regular wooden needles…Time was spent testing these needles with real knitters who were especially enthusiastic and thrilled to keep the needles.” Creative Knitting, March 2008

“The newest addition to the Knit Picks Options line of interchangeable circular needles is this collection of laminated birch tips. These Harmony needles are ultra smooth and extra strong due to the many layers of wood that make up the tips…” Knit Scene, Winter 07/Spring 08

“These needles are close to perfect. Good points even for lace knitting. The gorgeous coloring makes it easy to see even the finest yarn with no glare…” Planet Purl, March 2008

"These needles are made of laminated birch. The tip, as with the metal Options Interchangeables, is enjoyably pointy. The shaft of every needle in the kit is smooth and inviting in ways I usually see only on handmade wood knitting tools. They feel hand polished. The needles are light and the join is nearly invisible to my fingers. I am gobsmacked. These things are incredible.” Knitty, Fall 2007

“Laminated birch needles are beautiful, light and strong, with a sharper point and more durability…These needles also have sharper points than most wooden needles, making them a good choice for lace knitting and other work that requires precision.” www.About.com, March 2009

“I heart Knit Picks! The Harmony Options set is so beautiful! It comes with needle tips size 4-11 and two each of the 24’ and 32’ cables. It also came with a little bag to carry it all in, 8 end caps, 2 keys, and a vinyl case for the cables. I love love LOVE it!!! I’m telling ya, Knit Picks has a customer for life!” www.knittingdodo.wordpress.com, February 2009

"I just received my new Harmony Wood Needle tips and cables. I had read on several sites how nice these needles were.  They didn't exaggerate at all. I have used aluminum, plastic and bamboo needles.  Until today,  I always preferred the bamboo needles.  Today, I am a convert to Harmony Wood needles.  The wood feels fabulous to hold.  The yarn moves along easily.  And they are so lovely and colorful.  I can't wait to replace my others with more Harmony. I am already 1/2 way finished with a new hat since opening the package. Thank you for a great product" Cheryl L., Knit Picks Customer

“In my knitting needles I look for special qualities, they have to lie smoothly in my hands like the Harmony woods from Knitpicks do, because they are made of a natural material. They are made of wood, of layers of birch, and that means that you have a living material in your hand which bends with your movements slightly and that’s very good, in my opinion. The second very important thing is that the Knit Picks Harmony Wood needles have such sharp points, long points, which make speed knitting much easier.” Miriam Tegels, World’s Fastest Knitter

“I LOVE the harmony needles. They are so smooth, sharp, and warm feeling. Metal needles make my hands hurt (because of arthritis), but the wood stays warm, and I can knit for hours with them. And they are much slicker than the bamboo ones I have tried.” Lisa B., Knit Picks customer

I love these needles. They are much sturdier than bamboo and have nice pointy ends. I'm about half way through a shawl that has lots of k2tog and these needles have yet to come unscrewed. If you use the "key"provided to tighten them up, they are not going to come undone. Any needle that screws in will unscrew if you don't use the provided key.

i am completely in love with these needles. First, they are absolutely gorgeous. But, most importantly, they are a dream to work it. I often get tendonitis in my hands from work, and these needles make knitting so much easier for me. The needles are lightweight, but very sturdy; they don't bend with reasonable amounts of pressure. They keep a nice grip on the stitches, but releases them easily. The cords are very well mannered and don't twist on themselves. my stitches just zip over the joins like they were not even there. my sister must have been tired of hearing me rave about them, because she just purchased the Caspian set. (also very lovely).

These are by far my favorite needles. I was given a set for my birthday a couple of years ago, and I go to these needles every single time. They are beautiful and they grip the fiber so well and feel wonderful when holding them.

The friend who introduced me to knitting recommended these needles. Her praise for this set was endless, so of course I gave in and purchased a set of my own. At first, I had difficulty receiving my needle set, due to my post office, not Knit Picks. When I contacted KP about the missing needles, they immediately sent me a new set, which came the same day I received the original set. I contacted KP to let them know and sent one set back (free of charge), then began using my needles. Well, I tried to. Several of my needles came loose from their metal attachments in the first week. I was rather disheartened. I decided to contact KP to see if they had had previous complaints about this, and to inform them of the problem I was experiencing. They were so understanding. And sent replacement needles for the needles that had separated. The replacement needles work perfectly. I have had no further issues from my KP set! I love these needles very much! I have tried several types and these have definitely been my favorite! Their customer service is marvelous as well! I would definitely recommend these needles to anyone! I plan to order the blocking starter kit as soon as possible, since I have heard nothing but good things about it as well! My needles are silky smooth and the yarn glides over them perfectly. I would not trade them for anything! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE NEEDLES!

These needles are smooth, pointy, and fit it the cables well. The cables are flexible. The joins are smooth. However, the *rainbow* colors were very disappointing. The colors looked yellowy, orange, browny. Not rainbow colors at all. I was expecting more true colors. I just could not warm up to them. I returned and ordered Caspian which are truly exquisite.

I love these needles! The cable is soft and easy to manipulate. The connection points are so smooth my yarn doesn't catch- which was a a huge problem before. I do wish that there were more sizes!

Love these needles. Have had them for awhile and they make knitting a pleasure even when I get frustrated and have to rip out. Knit Picks also is the best company to work with. The people answering the phones are always helpful and polite! I give them an A+ for customer service. Thank you Knit Picks.

I bought the set plus the two largest #13 & #17. I went to use my size 17 and one sides threads were stripped. I emailed them and immediately they sent new ones no questions asked, no hoops to go through. I have bought several hooks and needles from Knitpicks and will continue to do so. I recommend them to everyone!

I love the needles, and the cables. The cables are softer than the ones I've bought at the store, and much easier to use. The needles feel amazing in my hands. I had a problem with a couple parts being defective, and Knitpicks immediately responded and replaced the parts. If I ever needed to, I would buy again.

These are great. They are light and very smooth but have the right amount of grip to manipulate smoother fibers. I generally check the joints every time I change rows (they do tend to come unscrewed) but they're easy enough to tighten up even with a working piece on them. I don't use anything else if I can help it. I'm hoping to get a set of DPNs soon.

I REALLY love these needles! My very first needles were the shiny metal ones (another brand, which cables also fit these KnicPicks needles) and I do like them, but wanted to try some wood needles as well... Well, since I got these, my poor shiny needles haven't been used even one time, I love these so much! At first I was worried that the tips wouldn't keep their nice points, as I can be a fairly tight knitter sometimes, but so far they have remained excellent. They are beautiful to look at (adding to my general knitting pleasure!), comfortable to hold (much "warmer" feeling than my metal needles), and I've never had any problems with them coming unscrewed or disconnecting. The joins are nice and smooth, and I love the clear case they came in - very nice all-around! I also love that the cables are interchangeable with my previous needles, so I've got extra cables in several sizes - perfect!

I guess no one has told all these people with needles coming loose from the cable, that they need to use the little wires that come with the kit (in a pinch an opened paper clip will do) it goes in the tiny holes in the needle and it provides the ability to torque (or tighten) the needles just a tad more than just screwing them on. I've had my Harmony interchangeables for about 2+ years and wouldn't use anything else, except maybe order a set of Caspain - they are so beautiful!!

I love these needles. I have just about all the sizes. I also have some of the new Caspian ones. My size 19 Caspian set was stripped when I got it and wouldn't tighten. They quickly replaced them. I also has one of the metal ends come off of one of my needles I just put a dab of E6000 glue on the needle and stuck the end back on and good as new. I never have trouble with them coming unscrewed. My only complain is that the cables used to come in a package of two and now come in singles, which is fine if you are using them as circular needles but I occasionally use them as straight needles with the stoppers on the end. I wish they came in the jumbo sizes 25mm, 30mm, 40mm, and 50mm.

I ordered these needles as my first big knitting purchase seeing how I'm a new knitter and wanted a fantastic set to start out with. I read the reviews and made sure I knew how to work the cable key so I could use them immediately upon receiving them. I opened the box and smiled at how beautiful they looked, they felt great in my hand and I connected the cables with no problem. I went to connect the size 6 4 mm needles and one of the needles didn't screw in, I think the inner wall was a bit too thick or didn't have the groove till the bottom or something. I immediately emailed Knitpicks and within 24 hours I had received an email saying they were sending me new tips. I got them today, tried them and they fit perfectly. I love these needles and am very happy I splurged and bought them.

I bought a trial pair late in the afternoon at a yarn shop on vacation. Tried them out that night and was back the next morning early to buy the set. I love, love, love these needles. I plan on buying all the other sets too. My daughter tried a pair of mine and just loves them too. She also wants to buy them.

I ordered the old acrylic set a long time ago... they had actually started to unscrew on me while knitting and it drove me nuts... I put them away for four years and came back to them... I changed technique as I progressed in my knitting... they no longer unscrew when I knit... two of the needles in acrylic broke and had to be replaced by the rainbow wood needles... these are amazing now that they don't unscrew ... just goes to show that over time your knitting technique changes ... I enjoy the rainbow wood and looking forward to replacing my acrylic set.

Just received my order today - can't wait to try these needles out. I also bought two of the chunky sizes and extra cables and car connectors. Feel like I should be ready for just about any project. Wish the interchangeables can in the smaller sizes too!

I've been thinking about buying a set of Knit Picks interchangeable circular needles for several years and finally took the plunge. I am so glad that I did. These needles are beautiful to look at, have smooth joins, feel warm in the hands, have wonderfully flexible cables and I like the included end caps for extra long straights. Thank goodness for the tutorial on how to use the cable key on the website because I didn't know what to do with it. I just wish that there were 16" cables and needle size 1-3 because I knit a lot of fair isles. Then the set would be perfect.

These needles are just gorgeous!! There was a slight problem because my needles kept breaking. But I absolutely think the waves of rainbow are beautiful! Great needles and I highly recommend these needles.

While I loved these needles as soon as I received them, I wanted to wait until I actually knit something with them before I gave a proper review. One minor complaint I have is that they are shorter than I thought they would be - about 5 inches long. For my simple hat pattern on the size 8 needles, 32 stitches took up almost the entire needle. Thus, I used one of the cables as an extender of the needles. That leads to my bigger complaint: the cables become unscrewed from the needles very easily! I find myself having to re-screw them into the needles every few rows, and wondering if I will lose my stitches. An example of this: I found the hat I had made was a little too small for the person's head, so I went to pick up stitches along the long side, to add some width. Much to my horror, I found at the end of the row that the cable had come unscrewed again, which meant all my newly picked up stitches had been dropped! It's annoying to say the least. That aside, I do really like how the wood "grips" the yarn when I knit - on my aluminum needles, the yarn slides off easily, or sometimes the needle itself would slide out of the stitches if I wasn't paying attention. Overall, I like the set and will keep using it - I just wish there was a way to "lock" the cables into place so that they can't unscrew themselves as I turn my works.

I completely LOVE these needles!! I ordered the rainbow circular needles &one set of the caspian DPN's. I VERY highly recommend these needles, you will never want to use any others again!! Can't wait to order the complete set of Caspian DPN's! Thank you Knit Picks!!

I just received my needles, their so beautiful! I love the colors, the feel of the wood, the cords are very wonderful nice and flixable. I just finished my first project with them and loved every minute of knitting with them. I used them for the knit stitch, purl stitch, purl two together, knit two together and ssk. They worked beautifully.

I have yo tell you that I love my new Option rainbow Interchangeable needles. They are everything that you promised. Thank you

I am so sorry to have to write a bad review for these needles. I purchased my set about five months ago and instantly fell in love with them - they are soft, sleek and made of beautiful wood. I got to work on a sweater and a month later, when I was finishing the sweater, one of the needles came loose from the metal tip. Knitpicks happily replaced the needle for me, but since then I've had two more needles come loose. I'm not an aggressive knitter by any means and I expected my needles to last more than five months/keep working after one project. I would not recommend these needles to anyone, my disappointment with them has definitely put a damper on my knitting this winter.

I've been knitting for 2 months now and i've decided to spoil myself with those needles... Those are so nice to work with: beautiful, light and easy to knit with. I love them !

5 out of 5 stars

I am an intermediate knitter and I purchased these as an investment for myself. The case they come in is great: Two pockets on the back for cables and accessories, and one large buttoned flap on the front for the needles. It is very convenient and fits in my project bags easily. These needles DO have the sizes marked on them! Mine had the sizes engraved on the metal portion of the needles! The cables are very flexible and the colors of the needles are so interesting. People will ask questions about these needles.

The best gift splurge ever! These needles have perfect points. At first I thought they were maybe a little too sharp. That's because I was not used to real quality. It took a very short time to love these tips. The cords join so smooth to the tips and lock in place if you use the key tool correctly. I had to call because mine would come unlocked in the middle of knitting. She was so helpful on the phone! Now they never come loose without using the key to get them loosened. Like other reviewers, I was disappointed when I discovered KnitPicks does not sell the 16" cable. Knitters Pride brand cables work on these needles, and can be found on Amazon and eBay. I love these needles and knitpicks!

3 out of 5 stars

Love the feel of the tips and the flexibility of the cables. The joins are smooth. However, the tips unscrew on their own and have completely separated several times during my knitting. First time it happened I assumed that I hadn't screwed them tightly but after third occurrence I am concerned

4 out of 5 stars

Like the previous reviewer, I think these needles are great! The colors are gorgeous, the needles super-smooth, and the tips are sharp and precise. However, I also would love them SO much more if they had a 16" cable as well!

5 out of 5 stars

I think these needles are excellent, but they would be MUCH better with a 16" cable!

My husband bought me these needles for Christmas and I LOVE them! At first I found the cable was coming apart from the tips but since I've use the key to tighten them I have had no trouble, they stay nice and tight. They are smooth, warm and beautiful with perfectly sharpened tips. Fabulous!

5 out of 5 stars

Love these got them last year for christmas. Had a problem with one needle and knitpicks was fantastic in replacing the needle very promptly. These are a great balance between letting the stitches slide easily but not so they fall off the tip of the needle. Would highly recommend

4 out of 5 stars

I adore these needles. I've used them several times and can honestly say they are worth every penny. After receiving them as a Christmas gift a few years ago, they have ceased to wear out after many uses. I highly recommend them with my only complaint being that they do not label the slots the needles rest in on the case. That being said, it's more of a packaging problem and less of a needle problem. Just make sure you keep them in the order they came in, and you should be fine.

5 out of 5 stars

I've had this needle set for a couple of years now and I truly love using them. My knitting actually became more even and I could work faster. I highly recommend it to any knitter.

5 out of 5 stars

I've had these needles for a while now and I love them. They are very smooth and I have yet to find a yarn that has not glided over these needles. Any other of my needles compared to these are boring and don't seem to work near as well.

3 out of 5 stars

These needles are gorgeous and the cables are great. I've had 3 of the needles detach/come out of the metal piece where the cable screws into though. I emailed KP about it a few weeks ago and haven't heard back (when I emailed them, only 2 needles kept detaching and won't go back in snuggly enough to knit with, the 3rd needle came apart today.) So for that reason, I can't give it highest rating. I guess I'll have to get some super glue. I had my set for about a month before this happened, I think. Maybe I just received a fluke set since no one else seems to have this problem.

5 out of 5 stars

I received them for my birthday from my DH and I must say I LOVE these needles. I purchased a set of interchangeable wooden needles at my LYS a few years ago and was never really happy with them. These Harmony needles will be my go-to needles. I may have to get a set of DPN next to replace my bamboo.

5 out of 5 stars

I love these needles. The cables don't get frozen in an obnoxious coiled shape that you have to fight like other cables. I love the pointy tips, their great for lace or any time you need to pick up stitches. But my favorite is that little hole where you can insert some thread to create life-lines on your lacework. I am using that with every other row on a project right now. Plus, the case they come in is so nice and neat. My other cable needles are a tangled mess. I plan on giving them away.

5 out of 5 stars

I loved this set. I admit when I first started searching I was questioning the price for these but now that I have worked with them a few times I can honestly say they are amazing! I have worked with metal, bamboo, & plastic needles before and none of them can compare.

5 out of 5 stars

These are worth every penny. I made a pair of mittens for my cousin a few years ago on boye circulars. The yarn kept slipping off the needles and i went through three sets before switching to DPNs because the cables broke on all three. Finally, I got these harmony wood needles and i absolutely love them. I will be purchasing the full range of DPNs and straight needles. My only complaint is that the sizes are not marked on the needle itself, so I had to buy a sizer. I still keep them on the card they were shipped on with the sizes listed.

5 out of 5 stars

Just got these needles and love them, very smooth. However, I received no instructions so don't know what the little pin and purple discs are for

5 out of 5 stars

Wow! These are great needles. They are nice and sharp, smooth but not too slippery, no snags at the join, and beautiful to boot! When you think of now many circulars you're getting for the price it really is a good deal. I always preferred addi turbo needles, but i have to confess that I actually prefer these.

5 out of 5 stars

I will not knit on anything but the Harmony Woods. Smooth knitting is the best way I can describe them. Absolutely love them and I highly recommend these needles.

5 out of 5 stars

I am inexplicably entertained by knitting with such pretty needles. They make even garter stitch entertaining. The wood is neither too slick, nor does it stick, the tips are perfect for lace knitting, and the joins are smooth. I wish, though, that this set came with a 16" cable, since I use that size so often while knitting hats. My only issue I've had is that when I used the longer cable on a project the other day, the cable kept coming loose. I think that may be because the line hadn't relaxed enough, though, or maybe I should have used that tightening tool I had previously not noticed.

5 out of 5 stars

How did I manage, for so long, without Harmony needles? Thank goodness I'm not without them any longer. My go-to needles every time. Always my first choice. The smoothness of the wood, the lightness of the needles. Great for my arthritic hands. And the smooth pointed ends that make picking up stitches, and doing specialized stitches so much easier.

5 out of 5 stars

I love these needles. I really like the fact that they have sharp tips. Makes it alot easier to pick up stitches, since I tend to be a tight knitter. They are very smooth with no snags and no snags at the joins. I have nothing but good things to say about these needles and I cant wait till I get the whole set!

5 out of 5 stars

I have never been a big fan of circs, but these are fantastic, and I rethink my aversion every time I pick them up. I did have the wood needle come out of the metal cap on one set, but KnitPicks replaced it right away and so I was and am very pleased.
