Armenian Knitting

by Meg Swansen & Joyce Williams This book explores the tradition of Armenian knitting. At first look you may assume it is done with traditional Intarsia, however, these garments are constructed by carrying two colors at all times. One color is knitted while the second color is carried along the inside of the fabric and "trapped" periodically by the working wool, allowing the secondary color to peek through occasionally. The resulting fabric is similar to damask weaving with the carried colors exchanging as the warp and weft in the pattern. The fabric produced is much different than Intarsia, with far less horizontal elasticity. You will find inspiring patterns from Meg and Joyce, as well as clear tips and photos to "trapping" your yarn as you knit. 9 projects—80 pages | Hardcover Item No. 31040 Your Cost: $24.00
